A unique segmented layout defines this amazing Japanese home, belonging to a couple and their three children near downtown Shunan, Yamaguchi County. Designed by Hayato Komatsu Architects, the rooms of this unique home are sectioned into boxes around the edge of the site. Glass corridors tie up the volumes as they take on the green beauty of a large and serene central courtyard, as well as several smaller yards. The design was formed to realize all the wishes of the client without completely overriding the scale of the 807.03 square meter plot and the surrounding residential environment. The result is a space with a sense of unity and a deep connection with nature.
A steel enclosure door waits at the end of a short path that leads into the property, just off the main road. The modern door matches a frame of steel windows, which increases its scale and size.
The main main entrance door for guests is housed inside a wooden tin enclosure that extends to the roof line to increase its warm and text effect. The cool gray exterior of the home creates a tonal contrast that pushes the eye to the welcome entrance.
Glass roof panels let the blue sky into connecting corridors that connect each volume of the unique home design. Glass walls open the corridors to the courtyards, which bloom on both sides.
Once through the narrow glazed corridor, a huge living space opens up with towering ceilings. Huge windows bring natural light flooding over the rich wood tone and gray brick interior. Tailored bookshelves stack decoration up to the roof.
The two-story lounge puts a small, casual dining room into the lower half of the layout, while a luxurious lounge tops. A chic modern L-shaped sofa divides the upper floor between the living room layout and a formal dining room at the back.
A rectangular coffee table is located in the center of an understated gray carpet that balances the gray tile floor treatment in the tiny dining room.
A bistro pedestal table sets up the secondary dining room as a place for tea and light snacks.
Three steps down gives the area a pleasant, intimate feel that is enhanced by the presence of a wood burning fireplace.
Surrounding courtyard views bring nature rushing to the airy living space.
An outdoor seating seat lies in the welcome patio design. Free installation of wooden ceiling panels flows from inside the living room to the shaded overhang outside.
At night the courtyards light up to preserve the magical panorama.
The L-shaped volume pushes the kitchen layout just beyond the corner of the living room, giving it an unobstructed view of the luxurious courtyard.
A breakfast bar returns to the next connecting corridor from floor to ceiling glass. Three kitchen bar stools let the children contribute to dinner.
Wide expanses create the feeling of walking outside.
A stone walkway in the manner of a garden path was carried out inside the house, to rebalance an area where there are no exterior views.
In the main room, a thin floor-to-ceiling side window and a clerestory window ensure privacy. Furniture is minimal, with only a platform bed, bedside table, desk and IC F 2-style lamp. La original IC F 2 was projected by Michael Anastassiades for Flos.
Home library is secretly hidden.
The library also serves as a music appreciation room, with heaps of CDs and a sound system.
Shoji doors add traditional Japanese elegance.
The doors are pocketed in a deep wooden frame.
Even the bathroom overlooks a courtyard.
The courtyard next to the bathtub is elevated to improve the view.
Exposed wooden ceiling beams add a bold visual interest.
Authentic tatami mats dress the floor.
The material palette remains cooperative throughout the home.
Graceful shrubs soften the fort home exterior.
Wooden slat panels examine the connecting footpaths.
Rocky borders plume the paved driveway, leading to green shrubbery and trees that give only a slight taste of the natural bonds that surround the rest of the household.
Exterior lighting gently illuminates the plants and the welcoming front entrance door.
The secondary front door is gently obscured by small trees.
The central courtyard gives the segmented dwelling a general sense of unity.
Each yard differs in scale, sunlight and height, creating different experiences as one moves through the house.
The site of 807.03 square meters holds a building area of 444.59 square meters, resulting in a total floor area of 471.24 square meters. A parking garage holds up to four cars at the front of the building.
The final layout of the rooms was decided by imagining many everyday situations and likely future lifestyle changes.

Carlile Armadale apartments are a set of chic luxury apartments located in curved, decorative art in Melbourne, Australia. Here we will look at the intricate design that forms the interiors of these extraordinary apartments, and some subtle stylistic variations between them. These high-end interiors are modern yet timeless, functional but attractive, to complement the special character of the building’s heritage facade. A deep, muted color enriches a material palette of natural wood, cool stone and metals to create a polished pattern. Wardrobes and beautiful bathroom projects build layers of luxury, while unique contemporary furniture attracts lines and pronounces luxurious comfort.
As we enter the main apartment of this apartment, an eye-catching jade green tufted sofa sets the tone for a unique modern luxury. A contemporary fireplace blazes across a luxurious marble fireplace. Large marble shelves extend the aesthetic in a vertical column. Twin lounge chairs set up a unique, designer presence.
In this alternative Carlile apartment, we see the tufted sofa moved to a more centralized position, which leaves room for a contemporary floor lamp by running floor-to-ceiling windows. This time the fireplace is contained in an attractive partition. A wide area rug connects the luxurious L-shaped sofa arrangement to the brightness of the fire.
A much more boxy contemporary sofa design approaches the modern fireplace of this apartment, which flickers inside a glass fireplace screen. The outer edges of the deep stone fireplace are used as bookshelves here, while elegant wooden effect panels texture the wall above.
A black marble coffee table completes the texture of the marble fireplace and built-in shelves. A clear glass vase and coffee table books provide a simple, unpretentious centerpiece.
The open concept lounge flows extensively into a chic formal dining room comfortably equipped for up to eight dinners, and into a large kitchen with dining area.
The luxurious kitchen island connects with the rest of the marble elements through the design of an open living room to create an elegant cohesion. Walnut lacquer kitchen towers build a warm backdrop for the cool gray stone island, while a central column of gloomy gray top cupboards and a coordinating gray back splash set a tonal link.
Gold-plated kitchen stools add a warm glow in front of the monolithic gray kitchen island, while their smoky padding completes the dramatic dark vein of the stone.
Well-placed artwork adds pulses of rich color to the refined decor scheme used here to draw attention to a well-stocked bar cart between the kitchen and living room spaces. A marble enclosed bathtub is the heroic piece of the luxurious bathroom design. The tub lies under a large window with a relaxed view. Contrasting vertical tiles lined a curved feature wall around the head of the tub, which is highlighted under thin bathroom lamps.
Residents of the luxury Carlile Armadale apartments have access to covered parking.
Sliding glass doors open the main living spaces to private terraces and outside dining areas. Low maintenance flowering plants and trees green trim the outer extent of living space.
A black sun lounger makes for a tempting reading area, or a place for contemplation looking over the city and Malvern Public Gardens.
The gap between two attractive and functional heritage buildings forms the unobtrusive, vine-draped pedestrian entrance to the Carlile apartments above.
The development grows from a street of lively cafes, eateries, restaurants, bakeries and bars, as well as a variety of local and international shops that offer a variety of shops on the doorstep. The property has its own open-looking cafe courtyard, which creates a street presence in conjunction with the surrounding establishments.
A community pool extends next to the building.
The mix of deciduous and evergreen plants, and Carlile’s landscaped character, Armadale, work to gently blend the building with the surrounding location and heritage. Designed by Almaty-Vilnius Architects, space is arranged around heroic pieces that captivate the eye and engage the imagination. While the home decor is primarily a clean and clear white background, colorful accents of blue, yellow and green create a ripple in the quiet environment. The home has an elegant living/dining room, a large dining room with breakfast and island bar, a quaint home office with a custom desk, an atmospheric home cinema, three beautiful modern bedrooms and two inspiring marble bathroom projects.
A modern white sectional sofa makes a clean frame around a unique geometric nesting coffee table.
The versatile coffee table can be placed edge-to-edge as one elegant piece, or divided into three small side tables.
Decorative vases draw attention to an elegant line TV, mounted just a few inches from the floor. Gray tiles behind the TV wall, and frame an elegantly high interior door.
A Chair Series Up 2000 by Gaetano Pesce for B&B Italia anchors a bold black accent in the lightroom. The projected chair also serves as a visual separation between the living room and the home entrance. The transition from wood to tile floors further accentuates the division of zones.

We will tour the home project of an art and book lover that springs from a collection of inspiring colorful tribal masks and several built-in bookcases; a new home renovation with a spacious open living space layout and a cool tropical atmosphere; a complex colorful apartment interior with stunning chandeliers and classic art; and an elegant modern red, yellow and blue interior with a crude industrial style edge.
Capsicum Tribe Mask of Umasqu combines ancient culture with modern talent with detailed and intertwined decoration. The colorful collection is boldly complemented by an assortment of scattered cushions on a solid blue sofa.

This 50 square meter home in Bela Vista, Brazil, São Paulo, is the harmonious unification of two separate apartments. Concrete and cement “seam” between the two original apartments have been preserved to go back to the history of the building structure. An electrical panel, plumbing fixtures and imperfections remain exposed on the remaining pillar.
In the middle of the new larger living space, a wide sofa table puts a warm wooden accent behind a cool waterproof sofa design. The piece also serves as a stool for use in the covered balcony area.

The Secret Garden project is a bright and edifying modern family home located in Rome, Italy, designed by Maurizio Giovannoni. The homeowners ’initial report called for a redistribution of space to accommodate their lively family, including an open living room, a private home office, a personalized room for each of their two children, and the installation of a terrace door from the main room. . Bold color has become the integral aspect in the renovation and recharging of the family home interior, with dynamic color combinations creating a vibrant contrast in every direction. A lively connection to nature was planted by a false “secret garden,” observed through a fun window sill in the home office.
The TV wall decoration is the first thing you notice as a prominent feature of the family room. A wooden tin bench was built next to and around a regular television stand to form one integrated modern piece. The warm wood, along with vibrant yellow accents and a colorful book collection brings sunshine to the northeast room.
The yellow accent travels on graphic printed sofa cushions and in a delicate set of colored glass dining room pendant lights.
A politically green accent wall differentiates the dining room from the living room in terms of an open concept.
The cool green paint clashes directly against a fiery red declaratory wall that cooks through the glass wall. The glazed partition allows the windowless dining area to receive additional natural light.

The home office leads directly from the family room, but is separated by more soundproof glass panel doors. A custom oak desk and tailored oak shelves heat up the solid mint green interior. Next to it, a theatrical fake “royal” garden is created with a Conceptuwall wallpaper.
A fun window sill in the wall of a home office sets up a magical connection with the secret garden, giving the workplace an inspiring view.
In the first of the two children’s bedrooms, a forest wallpaper from Conceptuwall creates another natural inspired space. Cuban shelves and a modern bedside table draw oak accents.

Each measuring just under 40 square meters, these three apartment interiors in Odessa, Ukraine, inspire three different personality types. Our first tour takes us to a sophisticated home with a bronze framed glass wall design, unique modern furniture ideas and an unquestionably luxurious kitchen project – despite its small proportions. Our second stop is made at a simple, young and sturdy apartment interior, designed for tenants, with another glass wall project that lends light to a multi-purpose living room. Color seekers may like our final prominent interior, where rich color accents add a touch of the unexpected. Floor plans included at the end of each tour.
This complex living room belongs to an apartment with one bedroom of 35 square meters, located in a multi-storey apartment complex. The low-back design of a stone gray modular sofa makes the small area appear open and therefore more spacious.
The compact apartment consists of a combined living room and kitchen, a glass wall project and a bathroom.
Minimal amounts of furniture, a hollow decor and a limited material palette allow emphasis to fall on the remaining high-quality elements and sea view. Thanks to the glass wall, the ocean panorama flows unhindered throughout the width of the apartment, creating an immediate factor entering the home.
A custom-cut frameless mirror was formed in accordance with the front door of the apartment, which creates a false window effect on the solid empty entrance wall.

A series of pavilions form this 1000 square meter beach property in Santa Teresa Beach, Costa Rica, expertly designed by architect Studio Saxe. Abundant tropical scenery integrates a jungle experience into the fragmented home, and beautifully frames the ocean view. A pioneer in sustainable tropical architecture, the project features passive systems that honor its stunningly green surroundings. Cross ventilation between the live programs also merges into a wonderful backyard project, rich in vegetation. In the home, interiors are developed under happily cooling white decorative patterns with earthy wood-tone accents. Retractable glass walls connect the interior living spaces with the jungle on its doorstep, so Mother Nature is only ever stepping away.
In this unique fragmented property project, separate pavilions contain the bedrooms, living spaces and service areas. The luxurious living room is freshly white, spacious free space. White sofas draw an L-shaped border around the living area, while a luxurious kitchen dining room occupies the rest of the volume.
A rustic coffee table adds a golden honey tone in the middle of the ethereal interior. Inserted perimeter lights shine a golden glow around the ceiling line.

Whatever feelings or belief system you may have around the color red, whether it’s passion, strength, energy, or even luck, red is definitely a powerful power when it comes to interior design. Because of its intensity, red is more manageable in smaller quantities, as are chamber elements that are more accentuated than dominant. Using too much of this strong shade can easily accomplish a pattern, but with more focused bursts, this color can be used to zoning and intensify areas within a room or open plan. That said, here are three inspiring home interiors that use bold red accents to create warmth within white modern home interiors.
Our first home is an apartment designed for a young professional female homeowner, located in Moscow, Russia. A modular sofa is marked as the first hot spot in this arrangement by a red hit at the backrest, and more subtly by interlaced sections in the upholstery. The spaced red accents make the predominantly white home interior look bright and comfortable.
A pale gold finish table neatly wraps around the end of the sectional sofa layout to form a comfortable reading area.

Living comfortably in a space of less than 30 square meters requires some creative thinking, and this pair of studio designs have space-saving ideas that are sure to inspire. Each of these two unique small home interiors includes playroom tailored furniture that allows you to use the floor layout completely new. Home design number one has a tailored cube of the living room and bedroom furniture in one – no conventional sofa bed visible – and storage space is plentiful but unseen. Our second home design brings many closets in which an entire bathroom is hidden, and built-in bookshelf ears in a multi-level bedroom with a unique home workshop.
Our first prominent home is a 29-square-meter studio apartment owned by a young designer, located in Pruszkow, Poland. Despite its compact proportions, the minimalist living room is clearly zoned with the implementation of cubic volumes and contrasting colors.
The living room “cube” is custom-built furniture. The design fuses a tailored L-shaped sofa with copious amounts of hidden storage space around it and below, plus a bookshelf within one end.
A modern coffee table completes the square lounge layout. Part of the sofa was formed with the same steel frame backs to create a custom cohesion.
The box under the sofa hides a surprise lito trundle. The bed extends at the convenient reach of the bookcase, making it easier to choose to go to bed.
